(I first took Congressman Kanjorski to task about these remarks in 2008. Now that my daughter is a United States Marine I want this fraud voted out of office even more.)
The man in the video below is Pennsylvania 11th District Congressman Paul Kanjorski.
During his 25 years as a Congressman, Paul Kanjorski has promoted himself as a friend to veterans and as an ally to th U.S. military.
The video below paints a much different story.
It was taken at a town hall meeting in Ashley Pennsylvania in 2008.
Congressman Kanjorski has fooled the voters into believing that he cares about the welfare of the men and women of our armed forces, when in fact to him they are simply pawns to be used as a means to an end.
"We didn't say it, but we implied it, that if we won the Congressional elections, we could stop the war."
"Now anybody who was a good student of government would know that that wasn't true......"
This hypocrite is running for re-election once again, and I am asking for for help in seeing him go down to defeat.
Please get the word out about this; link to this story, or copy the video and put in on your own blog or website, Facebook page, whatever!
It doesn't matter how people learn that Paul Kanjorski's only concern with our troops and their families is how he can use them to win re-election, simply that they do learn what a fraud thus man is.
Become a part of denying this charlatan another term in Congress.

Weak Economy May Ease Illegal Immigrant Problem
The downslide in the U.S. economy has affected folks from all walks of life, regardless if you are a Wall Street CEO or a “joe-sixpack” blue collar worker.
If there is anything positive to be seen in the current economic climate, it may be the fact that not only are we seeing less illegal immigration into the U.S., some of the illegals already here are starting to pack up and go home.
Enrique Hubbard, the Mexican consul general at the consulate office in Dallas Texas, reports a large increase of the number of Mexican nationals seeking information as to what paperwork they would need to go home for good, as well as documentation for enrolling their children in Mexican schools.
Since August of last year, more than 1.3 million illegal immigrants have returned to their home countries.
Whatever the reasons behind this exodus are; a lack of work for these folks due to a softening American economy, or more rigid enforcement of immigration rules by law enforcement, a few things are apparent.
This migration should help ease some of the strain on welfare and social services for these people, which have been funded with billions of dollars paid in taxes by American citizens.
And for the bleeding hearts who have been claiming for years that the illegal immigrants were “only doing jobs that Americans wouldn’t do”, those jobs will now revert to the workers who were doing them before.
Legal, taxpaying United States citizens.

My Appeal To The ACLU UPDATE
(Originally published March 2010)
Regular visitors to this site probably never expected to see me call out to the ACLU for assistance.
Truth be told, never in my wildest dreams did I see it happening either.
However, the Obama administration is forcing me to do so.
Otherwise, I may be headed to jail.
A few days ago, I wrote of a plan working it’s way through Congress that would require all working Americans to be issued and carry a National ID card, supposedly as a means of controlling illegal immigration.
I’ve just finished reading a news report that the bill could be presented to President Obama as early as this coming week.
And this is why I will need the help of someone from the American Civil Liberties Union.
Because I flat-out refuse to carry such a card.
Chris Calabrese of the ACLU had this to say about the plan:
“We’re talking about fingerprinting every single american worker, and that card, in turn, will probably be used not only to work but also to travel, to vote, perhaps even to own a gun.”
I have no idea what the penalties might be for refusing to knuckle under to this scheme that is right out of a police state, but I will say this to the two main sponsors of this national ID plan,
Senators Charles Schumer and Lindsay Graham:
See You In Court!

Illegal Immigration Is Making America A Police State
(Originally published in March 2010)
Both Republicans and Democrats have failed to take any meaningful steps in the battle against illegal immigration.
And the few who have tried to take steps against the influx of illegal aliens, such as Hazleton Pennsylvania mayor Lou Barletta, find their city ordinances being challenged in federal court, with little to no support from the government, in fact the feds are usually the ones issuing the challenge.
So what have our brain-dead members of Congress come up with now?
Democrat Senator Charles Schumer and Republican Lindsey Graham are behind a bill that will require all American workers to carry a biometric identification card.
I guess I had better win the lottery pretty soon, because I will be damned if I will allow the government to fingerprint me as if I were a common criminal.
Taking the fingerprints of someone who is joining the armed forces, or is working for the government in a security-sensitive position is one thing, but you mean to tell me that the best idea Congress can come up with to fight illegal immigration is scan the fingerprints of a teenager applying for a job at Burger King?
To showcase just how ludicrous this idea is, you need look no further than the fact that, on this issue, the ACLU and I are in agreement.
“It is fundamentally a massive invasion of people’s privacy,” said Chris Calabrese, legislative counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union.
“We’re not only talking about fingerprinting every American, treating ordinary Americans like criminals in order to work.
“We’re also talking about a card that would quickly spread from work to voting to travel to pretty much every aspect of American life that requires identification.”
Calabrese makes some excellent points, and I for one will go on record right now as saying that I won’t stand for it.
And I have a feeling that I’m far from being the only one who feels that way.

Barack Obama:Enemy Of The People
With each passing day,it becomes more and more apparent that President Obama is more concerned with how he appears to liberals in general than he cares about the safety and well-being of the American public.
His latest example of putting style over substance is his threat to have the Department of Justice take legal action against Arizona’s recently passed immigration control law.
The measure, SB1070, which is an adaptation of a rarely-enforced federal statute, is seen by bleeding hearts as a “threat to civil rights.”
Such an attitude completely ignores the monetary strain that illegal immigrants place upon social services, not to mention the increase in violent crime, drug dealing, etc. that Wasington has overlooked for years.
So Mr. President, if I where you I would spend some time thinking about the civil rights of American citizens.
Even the ones who were misguided enough to vote for you.

The Obama White House Fails AGAIN On Illegal Immigration
The White House had announced in July that by August 1st National Guard troops would be stationed on the Arizona border, the main entrance point for illegal immigrants.
On August 11th, Department of Homeland Security chief Janet Napalitano said it would still be weeks before the troops, which were supposed to have been in place 10 days earlier, would begin to arrive.
The White House is blaming the delay on the difficulties involved in the logistics of the deployment.
So let me see if I understand this.
The same administration that is promising to begin bringing home thousands of U.S. troops from Iraq can’t figure out how to move 1,200 National Guard troops from one part of America to another part of America.
Don’t stop sending our troops the care packages just yet.
And Napolitano?
She’s doing what she usually does.

The Difference Between Then And Now
I am beginning to have some serious issues with all the naïve people who state that today’s (illegal) immigrants are no different than the millions of people who emigrated here starting back at the beginning of the 1900’s.
There are some VERY distinct differences.
These are the things they DID.
OUR ancestors spent weeks coming to the U.S. on ships from all across Europe.
They stood in long lines at places like Ellis Island, waiting to be documented.
They made a pledge to follow the laws of their new country.
They made learning English a priority.
They did al they could to assimilate themselves and their children into the culture of their new country.
These are the things they DIDN’T do.
Sneak across the borders.
Demand that signs in stores, product labels, etc. to be printed in their native language.
Place the flag of their native country above the Stars and Stripes.
Think they were entitled to free health care.
Line up for welfare, child support, rent subsidies, etc.
Feel that the government should be responsible for taking care of their children, spending millions of dollars to teach their kids English because they couldn’t be bothered to learn it themselves, and on and on.
And they surely did not expect that they could retain every facet of life in their native country while refusing to adopt the culture of the country they came to.
LEGALLY I MIGHT ADD!

Same Old Same Old
A recent story in Hazleton ’s daily newspaper, the Standard-Speaker, outlines the claims of various Hispanic advocacy groups that Hazleton ’s Illegal Immigration Relief Act has cost the city of Hazleton more than 20 Hispanic-owned businesses.
Let’s examine some of their statements:
The Reverend Luis Cortez of Esperanza USA said “Illegal immigrants have been unfairly lumped in with legal Latino citizens.
He also claims that “The business owners who left were just afraid..that they were no longer wanted”.
The Reverend Jane Hess of the Faith United Church of Christ claims “We should hold government accountable (regarding illegal immigration), not take the law into our own hands” and “Mayor Barletta’s use of the term “illegal immigrant” is inflammatory”.
As usual, these folks are long on rhetoric and short on solutions.
Regarding Reverend Cortez’s claim of illegal immigrants being unfairly lumped in with legal Latino citizens, he should examine his own statement a little more carefully.
Illegal immigrants as opposed to legal Latino citizens.
Yes Reverend, as your own words show, there is a difference.
One group chose to come to America and go through the process of becoming U.S. citizens, the other did not. There is a distinction.
And the Illegal Immigration Relief Act did not target all Hispanics, rather it’s purpose is to hold accountable firms that employ or landlords who rent to individuals who are in this country illegally.
I am also curious as to why the Esperanza USA website does not mention the issue of illegal immigration.
An examination of that issue would seem to be a given for a Latino advocacy group, yet the focus of the website seems to be targeted to Hispanics that are legal U.S. citizens.
And to all those who claim that the process to become a citizen is too onerous, how is it that so many Latino’s have done so?
It surely cannot be any more difficult now than it was for my ancestors, who came to the U.S, unable to speak English and certainly did not have all the support systems and assistance that is available today..
It only seems logical that Reverend Cortez’s group should provide at least some information as to how to obtain U.S. citizenship.
As to the reverend’s claim about business owners leaving Hazleton because they were afraid they were no longer wanted, I fail to understand the logic of that statement also.
I have made numerous visits to the Hazleton Wal-Mart, both before and after the IIRA was proposed, and the predominant language I’ve heard spoken was Spanish.
So I can’t help but draw the conclusion that Wal-Mart was more of a factor in these stores closing than any proposed ordinance was.
Perhaps the citizenship status, or lack thereof, of the store owners and/or their employees was a factor in the closings. And I surely don’t recall anyone picketing outside of a Latino-owned establishment demanding that the proprietors leave town.
Reverend Hess’s statement about holding government accountable and not taking the law into our own hands also misses the mark.
No one is taking the law into their own hands; there are no bands of vigilantes roaming the streets of Hazleton targeting Hispanics.
To my way of thinking, the purpose of the IIRA is to attempt to remedy the fact that the federal government is NOT accountable.
If the government had been doing it’s job, cities and towns across the U.S. would not be passing laws whose aim is basically the same as those set forth in the IIRA.
As to Reverend Hess’s statement that Mayor Barletta’s use of the term “illegal immigrant” is inflammatory, I’m baffled.
Reverend, if someone enters a country without going through the proper channels and/or without the proper documentation, that person is an illegal immigrant in the eyes of that country.
However, I highly doubt that any country other than the United States would provide me with welfare benefits, allow me access to hospital emergency rooms, educate my children, etc.
All that the Reverends Cortez and Hess have don e is trot out the same old tired cliches’
without addressing the real issues
Rather than spending all their time deriding the efforts of people like Mayor Barletta, perhaps they should shift their focus towards helping these people understand tbhat they need to become legal U.S. citizens and to assimilate into OUR culture and way of life, not wait for us to change our way of life to suit them.

At the Doctor's Office
Today one of us was speaking to a woman who works in a physician’s office here in Hazleton.
She told us that because they treat Hispanic patients and get reimbursed through a federal program, the government has made a requirement that the office has to hire a translator.
According to this woman, the amount that the office is reimbursed would not make hiring a translator cost-effective.
She also made mention of the fact that Hazleton has many residents that have emigrated here from Eastern Europe, but that there is no requirement for a translator for these people because they have at least made an effort to learn to speak English!
What’s next, a translator riding on an ambulance?
Imagine an EMT or Paramedic responding to a call In Hazleton.
Chances are, the call they will be responding to will involve a person who doesn’t speak or understand English. The patient can’t tell the first-responder what’s wrong, and the EMT or Paramedic can’t make the patient understand what treatment they are trying to perform.
But you could be sure that if the person that was being treated didn’t feel that they received the highest level of care, the ACLU would be right there ready to file a lawsuit for negligence.
Anyway.
We didn’t want to put this lady on the spot.
We didn’t ask if she thought that any of the people being treated were illegals.
But we were left wondering what has happened to our country when a first-responder could possibly be sued for not speaking a foreign language, and how someone who claims not to speak or understand English still knows enough to receive free medical care.

Myth vs Fact
Not a day goes by that we don't hear from some misguided individual making the claim that the numbers of illegal immigrants in America is actually a good thing. And to debate these points would take more space than we want to devote to it at this time.
But we do want to dispel 2 of the biggest myths.
Myth:
“Illegal aliens only take jobs that Americans won’t do.”
Fact:
First off, just what are these jobs that Americans won’t do? And who was doing them before the massive influx of illegal immigrants?
The fact is they take jobs that Americans CANT do, because of employers who hire the illegals at rock-bottom, below minimum wage rates of pay.
The illegal immigrants can take these jobs because in most cases they are paid in cash and pay no taxes on their income.
A perfect example of this was made clear by a man who called into the Rush Limbaugh radio show.
This African-American gentleman said he was the head of a large labor union in California. And his statement was that African-American men were having trouble finding jobs, and even that one construction company spokesperson told him that he can hire two “undocumented aliens” for what he would have to pay one American worker.
Myth:
“If we deport all these people, we would be paying $10.00 for a head of lettuce.”
Fact:
What is that head of lettuce REALLY costing you?
According to a study done in 2002, the small percentage of illegals that DO pay taxes revealed that households headed by illegal aliens paid a total of 16 billion dollars in taxes.
On the face of it, this sounds reasonable.
Until you read a little further and see that in the same time period they received a total of $26.3 billion in government services such as food stamps, free medical care, etc.
You don’t have to be an economist to understand that a net loss of $10.3 billion dollars a year in reality makes that head of lettuce just a little more expensive for the American taxpayer.
And keep in mind this study was done five years ago. The hidden costs of illegal immigration have grown considerably since then.

Mexico Is Rich
Mexico is the wealthiest nation in Latin America, with the highest GDP south of the Rio Grande. Certainly there are many poor people in Mexico, since perhaps half the country lives in poverty. However, the nation as a whole is quite wealthy and could well afford the sort of improvements in education and infrastructure that would better the living standards of all Mexicans.
But the Mexican ultra-rich don’t like to tax themselves for social investment, and it helps them most of all that the American taxpayer has been forced to support Mexicans living in the United States.
Every dollar spent in U.S. taxes for social services for illegal aliens frees up additional cash which can be part of the annual remittances which now provide the second highest source of foreign income for Mexico.
Consider some relevent facts:
• Mexico has the highest Gross Domestic Product in Latin America, substantially higher than runner-up Brazil.
• When measured in GDP per capita, Mexico ranks #2 behind Argentina.
• According to Forbes magazine, half of Latin American billionaires are Mexican. In terms of total money, Mexicans accounted for $24 billion, half (50.2 percent) of the total worth of Latin billionaires.
• Mexico raises less revenue through taxation than nearly any other Latin American country, just 12 percent, which is one reason why the nation's wealth is not better utilized. By
comparison, the United States takes in 25-28 percent of its gross domestic profit in taxes.
• Economist Gary Hufbauer of the Institute for International Economics has remarked, “It’s up to Mexico to solve its problem, and basically the wealthy classes do not want to tax themselves,
period. While I’m not usually an advocate for larger government, Mexico is a country where public investment, done wisely, could pay huge dividends.”
• Mexico expert Prof. George Grayson of William and Mary College calls Mexico an “immensely wealthy nation.”
• Mexico’s economy is the world’s tenth largest.
• When the ruling party needed a hefty sum for the 1994 election, Presidente Salinas leaned on rich businessmen to write $25 million checks at an infamous dinner party, where contributions totaled a staggering $750 million by evening’s end. (By comparison, in March 2004 President Bush had a campaign war chest of around $150 million.)
In short, Washington should stop treating Mexico as a poor nation needing our help in terms of immigration deals and financial support.
